Carrie Underwood was an opening act at the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday night, April 1. The season 4 winner of "American Idol" kicked off the event by catering the star-studded crowd gathering inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with her toe-tapping single "Good Girl".
The Grand Ole Opry member walked down the red carpet earlier in the evening in a Abed Mahfouz strapless ivory frock with thigh-high slit and silver details, but she traded the gown with a hot pink fringed outfit for the performance. Finishing off her feisty look with a pair of ankle boots, she strutted her stuff with the company of a live band.
Underwood got two nominations this year, but she failed to win any of them. She lost Female Vocalist of the Year to Miranda Lambert, and she was blocked by Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson from winning Vocal Event of the Year. In the latter category, she shared the nod with Brad Paisley for their duet in "Remind Me".
2012 ACM Awards was hosted by Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire. During the gig, Shelton managed to mock Randy Travis. In reference to Randy's public intoxication arrest, the host said he drank over limit, but assured that it's "four drinks less than" the 52-year-old country music veteran. He additionally poked fun at Taylor Swift's shock face.
This year, Aldean and Lambert dominated the winner list with two kudos each, but it's Swift who got the top honor, Entertainer of the Year. Musical guests at the event included Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, The Band Perry, Lady Antebellum and Rascal Flatts.
