Rovio Adds 10 Free Levels to Angry Birds Space

angry-birds-space Rovio has added ten extra levels to the best-selling Angry Birds Space title for mobile devices running Apple's iOS and Google's Android operating systems. The additional levels are being distributed free of charge through Apple's App Store and Google Play, the company said Wednesday.

"A new moon rises and puts pigs in motion!" Rovio teases in the blurb for the new release. "If you thought it was hard to pop pigs in space before, just wait 'til they're orbiting around the icy planets in these 10 NEW LEVELS!"

The new stage, which leads to a brand new moon, is dubbed "Fry Me to the Moon."

Angry Birds Space players using an iPhone or an iPad to fling the game's avian missiles through various gravitational fields to topple their porcine adversaries will get some bonus material on their devices that tweaks the way the Mighty Eagle power-up is delivered through the game's in-app purchasing (IAP) system.

Rovio's Angry Birds Space update for iOS gives players 20 free Mighty Eagles, which on its face seems like a better deal than the previous arrangement where players could only access a Space Eagle by buying it as an IAP.

Not so fast. The new Space Eagles aren't re-usable in completed levels in the updated Angry Birds Space, according to TouchArcade. Angry Birds Space players will be able to earn free Mighty Eagles on a daily basis, but depending on how one uses the power-up, a gamer could conceivably wind up shelling out a lot more for the IAP than previously, the gaming blog notes.

Rovio's latest installment in its Angry Birds franchise has been downloaded tens of millions of times since it was released late last month, making it one of the most popular apps in the App Store and on Google Play.
